ColijnsplaatTitle: Colijnsplaat, sculpture Caption: Colijnsplaat [prov. of Zeeland] Small village on the isle of Noord-Beveland at the Oosterschelde. This sculpture in stone represents the coat of arms of the province of Zeeland with the appropriat device for a province, constantly threatened by the power of the sea: Luctor et emergo, meaning 'I wrestle and I rise'. Mind though that this device originally referred to the 80 Year War; the revolt to the Spanish troops. The little boy by the way isn't Hans Brinkers: he's having his finger in the wrong place.
