Caption: Fort Spijkerboor [prov. of Noord-Holland] Fortress south of the villages de Rijp and Graft. Around Amsterdam, on a distance of about 10-15km from the centre of this town you can find a circle of fortifications. These 42 fortifications, built between 1880 and 1920, had the function to protect Amsterdam. Spijkerboor fortress is one of them, north of Amsterdam.
