Caption: Bolsward [prov. of Friesland] 18th Century indmill ('Bovenkruier') with miller's house at Bolsward. After 1550 more and more windmills appear in the Frisian province, mostly for draining purposes. The maximum amount of mills in Friesland counted more than 2400 in the beginning of the 19th century! Unfortunately, in later periods many have been pulled down: there remain just a few. Among them this 18th century 'Bovenkruier' windmill type at Bolsward.
